The Chairmans's Ride
Story
As Chairman of the AGF our work together with Government, road authorities, corporate, motoring and cycling safety organisations and the public to bring about safety change. Our role in the jigsaw of organisations concerned with cycling safety is multiple. We believe the solution to reducing cycling-related injuries and fatalities is an integrated package of measures that includes;
1. Widespread traffic calming, including the lower speed limits in urban and neighbourhood areas
2. Better cycling environment via a minimum percentage of road and pathway infrastructure budgets dedicated to improvements for cycling, with key focal areas being high crash situations and the worst roads and intersections for bike riders
3. Road rules changed to make it safer to ride on roads and shared pathways
4. Improved education where bike & road safety education like AustCycle is embedded in Australian schools, and bike safety essentials are built into driver testing and programs.
The opportunity to blend the best of what has worked in other countries provides us with the belief that a much better future is possible.

How you can help
The work of the AGF is carried out by a small core team of staff and volunteers, underpinned by immense support from many partner organisations. Everybody who gets involved is compelled to make a difference. Financially, the foundation is funded by the generosity of community and organisation donations. We receive no ongoing government funding.
Making a donation to tis ride will help save lives and reduce the incidence of serious injury.

Activity
Amy Gillett Foundation
The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) began its work in 2006 in the name of Amy Gillett, who was tragically killed as a result of being hit by a motorist whilst cycling with the Australian Women’s Road cycling team in Germany in 2005.
The Amy Gillett Foundation's vision is for safe bicycling throughout Australia in order to achieve the ultimate target of zero bicycling fatalities.
The Foundation promotes a safe and harmonious relationship of shared respect between bicyclists and motorists – to highlight the importance of being responsible every time we head out on the road whether we're on two wheels or on four. Why? Because everyone deserves to arrive at their destination safely irrespective of their chosen mode of transport.
