Brisbane to Airlie Beach - Don't miss out!
Ever dreamt about riding in a peloton with a Tour de France rider? Now is your chance!
Amy's Share the Road Tour provides participants with a unique riding experience. Feel like a pro!
It is also a key event on the Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) calendar, serving as both a major fundraiser and a great opportunity to broaden the messaging and brand of the AGF. In the 2009 – 2013 period, Amy’s Share the Road Tour has raised over $1 million and has provided the Foundation with a great opportunity to communicate our key cycling safety messages.
The 2014 Amy’s Share the Road Tour will be held in Queensland in order to capitalise on the recent introduction of the two year legislative trial relating to minimum passing distances for motorists passing bike riders. The “a metre matters” campaign was first launched in front of Parliament House in Canberra at the Grand Departure of the very first Amy’s Share the Road Tour in November, 2009.
It has taken five years for the “a metre matters” campaign to evolve into an implemented, enforceable road law and the 2014 event in Queensland provides us with a great opportunity to reinforce our core cycling safety message with the ultimate aim of reducing serious incidents and the death of bike riders.
The unfortunate reality is that over the past ten years an average of 38 bike riders across Australia have lost their lives. Fear of fading memories after the loss of a loved one is something that is commonly experienced during the grieving process. Accordingly, for the first time he AGF will be facilitating a variety of options for people impacted by tragedy to become involved as part of their personal grief journey.
The ride experience provides different ride options each day to ensure we cater for a range of rider abilities’, visits to schools’, great food and accommodation and a fully escorted support crew that creates a unique camaraderie with like-minded riders including past and present pro cyclists
In 2013 we were joined by Wes Sulzberger (GreenEDGE), Koen de Kort (Argos-Shimano - lead out man for Marcel Kittel's 4 Tour de France stage wins), Charlotte Becker (Wiggle Honda), Rachel Neylan (World Championship Silver Medallist), Jess Mundy (AGF Scholarship Holder), Brad McGee (5 time Olympic Medallist) and Stephen Hodge (6 time Tour de France rider).
Here is an example of what we have been able to achieve with your support!
